Call for Papers
In commemoration of the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War era, the inaugural military history conference to be held at Columbus State University [19-20 October 2012] solicits papers and panel proposals dealing with the history of irregular warfare during the Civil War. We welcome a wide variety of topics dealing broadly with organized non-uniformed groups operating outside the confines of military discipline waging a civilian “people’s war” and the effects of irregular war on national policy and the conduct of the war and its social, political, and economic impact on local areas. Papers examining Union efforts combating irregulars—cruel but ultimately successful—are also welcome. (Note: paper and panel proposals focusing on more general Civil War topics are also encouraged.)
The conference will start on Friday afternoon with a dinner and social. Saturday’s meeting will feature panels, papers, and our keynote speaker followed by dinner.
Proposals should include a one-page CV for each participant and an abstract of no more than 300 words for each paper. Panel proposals should also include a 100-word overview of the panel and its relationship to the conference theme. Click Call for Papers link to make your submission.
Deadline for submission: 31, August 2012
